Titles that can be earned from the Canadian Kennel Club

 

CKC Conformation Titles (the beauty pageant)

Champion title. (Cdn CH) To earn a CKC Champion title, a dog must:
(A) Earn a minimum of 10 championship points,
(B) Earn at least one "major" (a major is earning at least 2 or more points at one time)

CKC Obedience Titles. (heel, sit, down, stay... ) Novice, Open and Utility Classes are very similar between the AKC and CKC, however, earning the higher level titles is slightly different.

Companion Dog (Cdn CD). This title must be earned from the Novice class. The Novice Class includes heel, sit, down, stay and come... on and off lead.
To earn this title, a dog must:
1. Earn three qualifying scores at three different obedience trials, and
2. The three qualifying scores must be earned under at least two different obedience Judges.

Companion Dog Excellent (Cdn CDX). A dog must earn the Companion Dog title before it is eligible to earn legs toward the Companion Dog Excellent title. This title must be earned from the Open class. The Open Class is all off lead and involves many commands from the Novice Class, however, the dog is also required to retrieve a dumbbell, retreive a dumbbell over a jump and jump over a broad-jump on command.
To earn this title, a dog must:
1. Earn three qualifying scores at three different obedience trials, and
2. The three qualifying scores must be earned under at least two different obedience Judges.

Utility Dog (Cdn UD). A dog must earn the Companion Dog Excellent title before it is eligible to earn legs toward the Utility Dog title. This title must be earned from the Utility class. The Utility Class involves off lead heeling with only using hand signals to direct the dog, directed jumping and the retrieving of scent articles.
To earn this title, a dog must:
1. Earn three qualifying scores at three different obedience trials, and
2. The three qualifying scores must be earned under at least two different obedience Judges.

 

Obedience Trial Champion (Cdn OTCH)
Any dog having attained the 3 obedience trial titles of C.D., C.D.X., and U.D. shall be recognized as an Obedience Trial Champion, and shall be entitled to bear the prefix O.T.CH. before its name.

 

Obedience Trial Champion Excellent (Cdn OTCHX)
This title may only be earned after the completion of the O.T.Ch. title.
The dog and handler team must qualify in both the Open and Utility Class in the same trial on 5 different occasions after the completion of a Utility title.

 

Master Obedience Trial Champion (Cdn MOTCH)
Points for this title may only be accumulated after the completion of an O.T.Ch. Points may be accumulated simultaneously with credits toward the O.T.Ch.X and Masters title. However, the Masters title will not be awarded until completion of the O.T.Ch.X title.

1) A minimum score of 190 in Open or 185 in Utility is needed to obtain points.
2) One High In Class placement is required in either Open or Utility Class but no minimum score is required.
3) A total of 40 points is required to earn a Masters title with a minimum of 15 points to be acquired in each Open and Utility classes, the remaining 10 points can be obtained from either class.

Grand Master Obedience Trial Champion (Cdn GMOTCH)
This tile may only be earned after the completion of Master Obedience Trial Champion title (M.O.T.Ch.).
Points for this title may only be accumulated after the completion of the (M.O.T.Ch.)

1) Dog and handler must achieve a minimum score of 195 points in both Open and Utility classes at the same trial at ten separate trials.
2) The scores in Open and Utility must be earned under a minimum of ten different judges. Scores may be counted at one time under the same judge or under two different judges.
3) A High In Trial must be achieved in at least one Open class and one Utility class.
