John and Judith are working on the landscaping again.

Shane Greenal and Rick DeBruin from Shane's Home Services are strong, hard workers. Their specialty is cement work. Their first incredible cement job for our home was to haul 80 bags of cement down 65 feet on our ocean-access staircase and hand mix the cement into forms they had built to strengthen our cement base for the sea stairs. All this had to be completed between the changing tides. The ocean was under mining the old cement base which had not been constructed high or wide enough to support the stairs. Neighbours lost part of their banks on either side of our property this winter, but our stair base remained strong and in place. This spring we again hired Shane and Rick to construct a 70 ft cement dog run under our deck.  This was complicated by varying slopes and a submerged pipe. The dog run gives our 4 dogs protection from the winter rains, helps keep the house cleaner and slopes away from the house for easy hosing. Shane and Rick also hauled 21 yards of gravel spread along side the cement run and on the paths in front of the retaining wall, on paths to the new side garden and on the side driveway. This work had to be accomplished by hand as there was no room for heavy equipment. Shane and Rick have many other talents for home renovations and repairs. Rick has built his own home on Pender Island. You can reach Shane at 1-778 235 9142. These men work quickly and make a point to make your dogs feel relaxed as they work in the dogs' environment. Something that few people know is that Shane is also an accomplished chef and can be hired for special occasions to barbeque for weddings, birthdays and special occasions. He donates his skills to the local Pender Island Legion 239 on Steak Night.
